My experience with Marshall Middle School has been deeply disappointing and distressing. The leadership team completely ignores widespread bullying and severe racial harassment, creating an environment that is unsafe for students. My daughter is subjected to constant emotional harm because other students mock her skin color and use disrespectful nicknames instead of calling her by her actual name. When we turn to the school counselor for help and support, our concerns are entirely dismissed and brushed aside. Furthermore, the overall lack of safety on this campus is terrifying. It is unacceptable that the police and ambulances have had to respond to the school multiple times due to unmanaged crises. The administration is failing to provide a safe, respectful, or effective learning environment, and they must start prioritizing student mental health and physical safety.

I do not appreciate anything about the leadership's approach. The administration completely fails to manage the school safely or engage with parents effectively. Serious safety concerns, such as incidents requiring police and ambulances, are handled without transparency. Furthermore, the leadership team and counselor do nothing to address severe bullying and ongoing racial harassment. Ignoring when a child is targeted with racist slurs shows a complete lack of leadership and care for student well-being.
What improvements, if any, would you suggest for the school leadership to better meet the needs of students and parents?
Marshall Middle School leadership must implement immediate changes to fix the severe lack of safety and discipline on campus. First, the administration needs to enforce a zero-tolerance policy for racial bullying and harassment. Students who target others with racial slurs or disrespectful nicknames must face immediate, strict consequences. Second, there must be clear accountability for staff members. The school counselor must be held responsible for completely ignoring reports of bullying. Finally, leadership must improve communication and transparency with families. Parents should be notified immediately with clear details whenever emergency situations happen on campus, especially when the police or ambulances are called to the school.
Can you provide an example of how school leadership has positively and/or negatively impacted your child’s educational experience?
School leadership has negatively impacted my child by failing to protect her civil rights. Multiple students target her skin color with disrespectful nicknames instead of using her real name. The administration and counselor have done absolutely nothing to stop this harassment. This severe lack of leadership leaves my daughter feeling unsafe and unsupported at school.
