The Jenner & Block report exposed a historical culture of cover-up and look-the-other-way administration at Nishimachi, and my family's recent experience proves this systemic failure is still alive and well. When my daughter was relentlessly bullied, the responses from Mark Paxton and Karen O'Neill were identical to the passive formulas used by past administrations: minimize the issue, protect the school's image, and ignore the victim's distress. Moving my daughter out of her classroom while allowing the abuse to continue unchecked proves that leadership still prefers covering up problems over resolving them. The school's historic duty-of-care failures remain uncorrected.

The school must break its toxic, decades-long habit of sweeping systemic student safety issues under the rug. Leadership must actively confront student abuse rather than handling it behind closed doors with empty promises.
Can you share an example of how the school has positively and/or negatively impacted your child’s academic or personal growth?
My daughter faced continuous bullying from another student. Despite escalating this to Assistant Principal Mark Paxton and Head of School Karen O'Neill, nothing changed. Even after moving her to a new class, the abuse persisted because the administration refused to penalize the bully, reminiscent of the institutional passivity documented in Nishimachi's past.
