In my opinion, AISJ has the potential to be an outstanding international school because it employs many talented educators who genuinely care about student learning. However, during my time there I observed significant concerns regarding transparency, consistency in leadership, and staff support. Many teachers expressed concerns about the Human Resources department and felt uncomfortable raising issues due to fear of professional consequences. Leadership turnover, inconsistent communication, and limited support when dealing with challenging parent situations contributed to declining staff morale. I also believe the school should review how employment decisions are communicated, improve transparency in administrative processes, and foster a culture where staff can raise concerns without fear of retaliation. Housing arrangements, resource allocation, and teacher well-being also deserve greater attention. My intention is not to discourage others but to provide an honest account of my experience. I hope the school views feedback as an opportunity to rebuild trust, better support its teachers, and strengthen the educational experience for both staff and students.

The greatest strength of the school is its teachers. I had the opportunity to work alongside many talented, dedicated, and caring educators who consistently supported one another despite difficult circumstances. The diverse international environment also provided opportunities to learn from colleagues with different educational backgrounds. Unfortunately, I found that much of the positive work environment came from the staff themselves rather than from the school's leadership or organizational practices.
What areas of improvement do you think the school should focus on to better support its teachers?
The school would benefit from greater transparency, stronger communication, and a Human Resources department that is viewed as an advocate for employees rather than solely for the institution. Leadership should provide more consistent support when teachers face difficult situations with students or parents, communicate decisions more openly, and establish fair, transparent processes for handling concerns. Improving trust between staff and leadership would significantly strengthen morale, retention, and the overall school culture.
Can you share an example of how the school has positively and/or negatively impacted your teaching or the learning experience of your students?
While I appreciated working with dedicated colleagues and motivated students, I felt that inconsistent leadership and limited administrative support often made it more difficult to focus on teaching. There were times when teachers felt pressured to prioritize parent satisfaction over maintaining consistent academic expectations, and I believe this undermined both teacher confidence and academic integrity. A stronger commitment to supporting professional judgment would have created a healthier environment for both teachers and students.
